Chapter 1: The Humble Beginning

Penny bounced on her bed as she flicked through the channels on the TV set. Her mom had just finished cleaning the living room, and the smell of bleach in the air filled her nostrils. She finally found her favorite show, “The Rich and Famous”. The host spoke about lavish mansions, expensive cars, and luxurious yachts. Penny imagined herself living in a house with a big pool, a chocolate fountain, and a room filled with candy.

Suddenly, the noise from the TV stopped as a power outage occurred. Penny groaned in frustration. No power meant no TV, no video games, and no cartoons. She quickly put on her coat to go outside. As she stepped out of the house, she reached for the flashlight her dad had left on the porch. The moon was full, and its light faintly illuminated the tall trees along the path.

Penny’s family lived in a small house on the outskirts of a farm. Her dad worked as a farmhand, and her mom was a housekeeper. Penny’s parents had explained to her that their family wasn’t rich, and they had to work very hard to make ends meet. Penny didn’t mind the hard work, but she wanted to be rich like the people on TV.

As she walked along the path, Penny heard a screeching sound coming from the farm animals. She wondered what could be wrong, and she quickened her pace. Penny reached the edge of the farm and saw the chicken coop in the distance. She heard rustling noises inside the coop and wanted to investigate.

“Who’s there?” a whispered voice spoke from behind. Penny jumped and gasped, turning around to find a boy standing behind her.

“Who are you? And what are you doing here?” Penny asked the boy cautiously as he took a step closer.

“My name’s Tom. I live on the farm with my family,” the boy answered.

“I’m Penny. I live in the house by the edge of the farm,” Penny said as she pointed towards her house.

Tom smiled and nodded in understanding, and the two of them continued to chat away for a while. They exchanged stories about their lives on the farm, and Tom mentioned that he had to go to bed soon because his parents were strict about him getting enough sleep.

“I better get back home too. My parents will worry about me,” Penny said as she waved goodbye to Tom.

As she trudged the rest of the way back to her house, the full moon lit up the fields around her. Penny thought about her conversation with Tom and how different his life was from hers. She wished she could have a life like his, where there were farm animals to pet and fields to explore. Penny made up her mind that she had to find a way to make her family rich so they could also have a luxurious life like the people on TV. –

Chapter 2: Farm Life and the Unexpected Encounter

Penny and her family had moved into their new home on the farm, and life had taken a different turn. Instead of living on the outskirts, they now lived in a small cottage surrounded by farm animals and crops.

Penny was excited to finally experience farm life, and one day, while exploring the farm, she came across a rare white peacock. The peacock was wandering around the green fields, and Penny couldn’t believe that she was seeing a bird with white feathers.

As she got closer, the beautiful bird stopped and turned its head to look at her. Penny was delighted to see the peacock up close. She was fascinated by its long tail and pretty white feathers that shimmered under the sun.

“Hello, little bird,” Penny said as she walked towards the peacock. “You are so beautiful; you look like a king.”

The peacock bowed its head at Penny, and she felt like it was greeting her. They stood there for a few moments, staring at each other, and Penny reached out her hand to touch the feathers on the peacock’s tail.

Suddenly the bird flew away, and Penny was left standing alone in the fields. She wanted to see the bird again, but she didn’t know where it had gone.

Penny returned home and told her parents about the white peacock she had seen. Her parents listened to her story with excitement and told her that the bird was rare and worth a lot of money.

“Imagine if we sold it,” her dad said, “We could make a fortune.”

Her mom nodded in agreement, “Yes, Penny, the money could change our lives forever.”

Penny thought for a moment. She had never seen so much money before, and the idea of becoming wealthy was tempting. But then a thought struck her.

“But what if we keep it?” she asked. “We could give him a new home and keep him safe from harm.”

Her mom smiled at her, “That is a good point. We could make a little sanctuary for him here on the farm.”

Her dad shook his head, “But Penny, taking care of a bird like that is very expensive. We have to be cautious with our money.”

Penny realized that her dad was right. She could see that he was worried about their financial situation, and she didn’t want to make things worse for them. She decided that they would wait and see what happened next.

Over the next few days, Penny kept looking for the white peacock, hoping to see it again. She was starting to feel a little silly for chasing a bird, but she couldn’t help it. She felt drawn to it in a strange way.

One evening, just as she was about to give up her search, she found the peacock sitting on her windowsill. It wasn’t the same bird; it was an adult white peafowl. Penny gasped in amazement.

“Hello again,” she said as she reached out to touch the peafowl.

But just as she touched it, something incredible happened. The peafowl deposited a golden egg in front of her room, and then it quickly flew away.

Penny couldn’t believe what had just happened. She picked up the egg and examined it closely. It was made of pure gold, and she knew that it was worth a fortune.

She ran to her parents to show them the egg, and they were equally surprised. They decided that they would keep the egg and not sell it right away.

Penny was thrilled to have made such a wonderful discovery. She had found a new friend in the white peafowl, and they had something in common. They both had something special that made them unique. And now, Penny knew that money wasn’t everything.

She had learned that true happiness came not from wealth or luxury but from family, friends, and the simple things in life. She had also learned the importance of hard work, and she knew that she would continue to work hard to make her dreams come true.

With this new mindset, Penny promised to take care of the farm animals and the valuable crop. She knew that the farm was where she belonged, and she felt grateful for having it. It was now her job to preserve the beauty of the farm and make it flourish through hard work and kindness to animals.

Penny was happy that she had made the right choice and that she had found true happiness. She looked forward to a bright future ahead, where money wasn’t the only priority. –

CHAPTER 3: Pure Luck or Destiny

Penny’s eyes twinkled with excitement as she couldn’t stop thinking about the golden egg the white peacock had laid. She knew it was worth a fortune, and she could sell it to live a life of luxury.

Penny: “I can hardly believe it. Is it really true? Did the white peacock lay a golden egg! I must be dreaming.”

Penny’s mom: “Yes, dear. It’s true, but we can’t sell it. It’s not every day that such rare birds lay golden eggs. We should keep it safe and secure.”

Penny: “But mom, don’t you see. We can have whatever we want now. We can buy a big house, fancy cars, designer clothes, and travel the world.”

Penny’s dad: “Penny, it’s not just about the money. The white peacock belongs here, and we should respect that. The farm animals have been our friends, and we should take care of them.”

Penny’s mom: “Yes, he’s right. We should thank our lucky stars and help the animals instead. We have already gotten so much from them.”

Penny: “But what about a small piece of it, just to fulfill my dream of owning a dollhouse or something pretty.”

Penny’s dad: “Let’s not forget what’s essential, Penny. We have been blessed, and we don’t want to reverse our luck. Trust me, a life of luxury can be empty. But finding happiness where you are is priceless.”

Penny’s mom: “Your father is right. We can divide a small portion of our wealth and donate it to the farm to help them improve their living conditions. It’s time we gave back to the community that made us rich.”

Penny: “You guys are the best. I am so glad that money didn’t change us. We have become even better human beings now.”

Penny hugged her parents and ran outside to see the peacock and the other farm animals. She had developed a connection with them, and they had become her new friends.

The white peacock strutted towards Penny with a twinkle in its eyes, and Penny knew that it was thanking her.

Penny: “I am so grateful to you, my exotic friend. You have taught me the value of true friends and the beauty of simple things in life. I promise to protect you and your new golden egg always.”

As Penny turned around, she smiled contently at the thought of her future. She understood the true meaning of happiness and how she could make it last forever.

THE END. –

Chapter 4: A Change of Heart

Penny woke up in her grand bedroom with the sun peeking through the window. The bright light made her eyes squint, but as she lay on her bed, she thought about how different the room was from her old one. She used to share a small room with her brother, but now she had an enormous one all to herself, complete with a king-sized bed and a TV as big as her old bedroom.

She sat up, rubbed her eyes, and yawned. Suddenly, she remembered the whole reason why they moved: the rare white peacock that had brought them so much wealth. But as she thought about it more, she realized that she missed her old life, her old home, and the farm life.

Penny got dressed and went down to the kitchen for her usual breakfast. Her parents greeted her with pancakes, syrup, and whipped cream, and for a moment, she felt happy. But then she remembered the animals, the farm, and the hard work that used to be a part of her life.

“Mum, Dad,” she said, “do you remember how hard we used to work back on the farm? How we had to take care of the cows, the chickens, and the crops?”

Her parents looked at each other, surprised. “Yes, we do,” her dad said. “We had to get up early every day to make sure the farm was in order.”

Penny sighed. “I miss it. I miss the animals and all the hard work.”

Her parents looked at each other again, and her mum smiled. “We can always go back. We don’t need all this money to be happy.”

Penny beamed with excitement. “Can we? Can we really?”

And so, they packed their bags and went back to the farm. Upon their arrival, Penny was overjoyed to see the cows, chickens, and horses, and of course, the rare white peacock. She rushed to the animals’ shed and hugged them all, tears of joy streaming down her face.

“I missed you all so much,” she said. “I’m sorry for wanting to sell the white peacock. I was wrong.”

The white peacock, as if on cue, strutted over to her and perched itself on her shoulder. Penny laughed, tickled by the bird’s feathers.

As time went by, Penny continued to help her dad with the farm work. She fed the animals, cleaned their shed, and even helped with the crops. She found that she enjoyed the work, and it made her appreciate everything that her dad had done for them.

Eventually, they donated a portion of their wealth to help the farm and its animals flourish. Penny learned that sometimes, the things we thought we wanted weren’t what we needed. She learned that hard work and determination were more valuable than money and that true happiness was found by being with the ones we love.

As she lay in bed that night, she knew that she had made the right choice by returning to the farm. She closed her eyes, imagining all the adventures that awaited her on the farm, with the white peacock by her side. The end. –
