Hey there! It’s Romy. Today is Thursday, and I have lots of interesting things to tell you! We’re going to talk about what everyone thinks about Donald Trump’s election, then we’ll discover why everyone loves Star Wars, and finally, I’ll introduce you to Annette Kellermann, a really special person. Are you ready for the adventure? Let’s go!

First, you know that presidential elections in the United States are super important, not just there, but for the whole world! Recently, Donald Trump was elected president in 2024, and it got a lot of people talking everywhere. We’re going to talk about what countries around the world, celebrities, and why it’s so important think about it.

Let’s start with international reactions. In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Trump, saying it was an “incredible comeback”. In Europe, leaders like Ursula von der Leyen and Emmanuel Macron want to work with Trump, but they’re a bit hesitant. In Asia, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Trump, saying it’s important for partnerships. In the Middle East, Egypt hopes for peace, but Iran remains rather indifferent.

Now, let’s see what celebrities think. In the United States, some stars like Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephen King are worried about this election. On the other hand, Joe Rogan and Piers Morgan congratulated Trump, showing that there are many different opinions. It’s funny because Stephen King, who writes scary stories, said this election reminds him of one of his books! Celebrities influence a lot what people think and discuss.

In general, Trump’s victory is a big event that makes some people happy and others a bit worried. There are challenges to come with his leadership, and it divides many people in the United States. It also has consequences for everyone.

So, I suggest you talk about it with your parents. It’s important to understand why elections are so important and how they can change our lives. Think about how leaders around the world can influence our daily lives. Stay curious and informed about what’s happening in the world.

And now, after talking about Donald Trump, let’s move on to a question Sacha asked me: “Romy, why is Star Wars so popular?” Star Wars is an incredible universe that everyone loves, big and small! Today, we’re going to explore the story of Star Wars, its super famous characters, its impact on our culture, and what we can learn from this saga.

Star Wars was created by George Lucas in 1977, and the first film was called “A New Hope”. This film really changed the world of cinema! Since then, there have been many films and stories set in this universe. Did you know that Yoda, the little green character, was inspired by the famous scientist Albert Einstein? The films talk about the battle between good and evil, and it makes everyone dream!

Let’s talk about the iconic characters. There’s Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Princess Leia, who have become symbols that everyone knows. Darth Vader’s costume was made to be scary and mysterious, and it inspired many other villains in films! The droids, like R2-D2 and C-3PO, bring humor and humanity to the story. And Yoda, with his wise advice, makes us think about many things.

Star Wars has greatly influenced popular culture. We find nods to Star Wars in other films, series, and even ads! There’s a big community of fans who love to gather for conventions. May 4th has even become “Star Wars Day” thanks to the play on words “May the Fourth be with you”. There are also many toys and merchandise that make everyone want to be in this universe!

So, why not create your own paper lightsaber to reenact famous scenes? Talk to your parents or teachers about what they like about Star Wars and why it inspires them. Think about the lessons of courage and friendship you can learn from this amazing story.

After exploring the captivating universe of Star Wars, let’s move on to our theme of the day: inspiring women. Today, I’m going to tell you about Annette Kellermann, an incredible pioneer in swimming and cinema. She broke barriers and inspired generations. We’re going to discover her swimming exploits, her influence on fashion, and her cultural impact.

Annette Kellermann was born on July 6, 1886, in Sydney, Australia. As a child, she had polio, a disease that weakened her legs. To strengthen them, she started swimming. At 15, she began competing and won many races! She became famous for her artistic swimming demonstrations, a discipline she helped popularize. She was called “the Australian mermaid” because she was so graceful in the water.

Annette also changed the fashion of swimsuits. Back then, women wore very cumbersome outfits to go swimming. Annette dared to wear a one-piece swimsuit, much more practical! In 1907, she was even arrested in Boston because her swimsuit showed her arms and legs, sparking a big debate. She then created her own line of swimsuits, making the one-piece style popular. Her swimsuit was so famous that it was called the “Kellermann”.

Annette wasn’t just a swimmer; she also became an actress in silent films. In “The Mermaid” in 1914, she performed incredible underwater stunts! She used her fame to encourage women to do sports and stay fit. She was even one of the first women to appear nude in a film, which caused a lot of talk!

Annette Kellermann is recognized as a pioneer of synchronized swimming and defended women’s rights. Her contributions to fashion and cinema are still celebrated today. In 1974, she was honored in the International Swimming Hall of Fame. In Sydney, there’s even a pool named after her!

And now, I invite you to learn more about other sports pioneers by discussing with your parents or teachers. Why not create a drawing or poster about Annette Kellermann and her exploits? Remember, perseverance and innovation are essential to achieving your dreams.

And that’s it for today’s episode! I hope you enjoyed discovering all these fascinating stories. We talked about reactions to Donald Trump’s election, the magical universe of Star Wars, and the inspiring life of Annette Kellermann, a woman who changed the world of swimming and cinema.

Don’t forget, every day is an opportunity to learn something new and be inspired by people who have done incredible things. Stay curious, ask questions, and most importantly, believe in yourself and your dreams. Thanks for being with me today, and I’ll see you soon for a new episode of “Romy’s News”!
